PRIVACY POLICY

Last Updated: 27.08.2025

Curious Games PSA (“we,” “our,” “us”), based in Warsaw, Poland, is the developer and operator of Slap Fighter.

This Privacy Policy explains how we access, use, and safeguard information when you play Slap Fighter on Meta Quest and related platforms. It is intended to meet the requirements of Meta’s Developer Data Use Policy (DDUP) and the Data Use Checkup (DUC) process, as well as applicable privacy laws.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your data rights, please contact us at: games@curiouselement.com

1. Information We Access

When you play Slap Fighter, the game may access the following information provided by the Meta platform:

  • User ID (Oculus ID) – a unique identifier of your Meta account.
  • User Profile (Username) – your Oculus username, which may be displayed in-game. (We do not access or use your profile photo.)
  • Friends List – your Meta friends, in order to invite them to multiplayer sessions.
  • Invites – data required to send and receive multiplayer invitations.
  • Deep Linking Data – information about your current location in-game (e.g., lobby, hub), used for joining friends directly.
  • Gameplay Data (temporary) – such as matchmaking outcomes, duel results, or leaderboard positions, only available during your active session.

We do not access or collect sensitive categories of data such as biometrics, financial data, or location history.

2. Purpose of Use

We only access these data in order to provide the core functionality of the game. Specifically:

User ID

  • To authenticate sessions using Epic Online Services.
  • To generate unique room identifiers for matchmaking (via Normcore).
  • To display your nickname above your avatar.
  • To maintain global leaderboards.

User Profile (Username only)

  • To identify players in multiplayer sessions.
  • To display names on leaderboards.
  • To allow friends to recognize each other in-game. (We do not use Meta users’ profile photo.)

Friends List

  • To display which friends can be invited to a Friendly Duel.
  • To show friends’ scores on leaderboards.

Invites

  • To enable players to send and accept invitations to multiplayer matches.

Deep Linking

  • To show whether a player is currently in the lobby or hub.
  • To allow invitations directly into that location.

All these features are integral to multiplayer gameplay. We do not use them for advertising, profiling, or marketing.

3. Data Retention

  • Data from Meta features are used only while you are actively playing the game.
  • We do not permanently store your User ID, profile, friends list, or gameplay results on our own servers.
  • Once your session ends, the information is no longer available to us.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

We only rely on trusted service providers to enable the technical operation of multiplayer features:

  • Meta – provides account, profile, friends, and invite data.
  • Epic Online Services / Normcore – provide authentication, matchmaking, and real-time connectivity.

5. Data Deletion

Because we do not store personal data on our own servers, there is generally no data to delete once you finish playing.

If you wish to request deletion of residual data (such as leaderboard entries or technical logs), please contact us at: games@curiouselement.com

We will confirm your request and ensure deletion within 30 days.

6. Security

We apply the principle of data minimization: we only request the minimum information necessary for the game to function.

  • We do not copy or persist your data outside the Meta ecosystem.
  • Multiplayer and matchmaking rely exclusively on secure communication channels provided by Meta, Epic Online Services, and Normcore.
  • Our team has no ability to use these data beyond enabling gameplay.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

  • Access – to know which information is processed about you.
  • Deletion – to request removal of gameplay-related data (e.g., leaderboard entries).
  • Restriction/Objection – to limit or oppose certain processing.

To exercise these rights, please contact us at games@curiouselement.com.

8. Compliance with Laws

We comply with relevant data protection regulations, including:

  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (European Union).
  • California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) (California, USA).
  • Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) (United States).

Our game is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from such users.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes in our practices;
  • Updates in applicable laws and regulations; or
  • Updates to platform features provided by Meta or our service providers.

Any revised version will be published on our official website and included in the Meta Quest store listing. The updated Privacy Policy will apply as of the date it is published, unless a later effective date is explicitly stated.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we handle your information.
